Leica video recovery

How to recover deleted Leica videos

The Leica SL2-Scamera records videos, and as with many such cameras, the vidoes are not saved in physical sequence on the SD memory chip. Thus most recovery programs will fail, but GPR can process tyhe outof sequence files and save a valid, palyabale video that will not need repairing.
The only critical poin about the Leica camera is that is encodes video files in a way that is not totally standard. Thus if viewed on windows many viewers, such as QuickTime or 'Films & TV' either will not play, or possible just give sound. The two programs that have been found to work correctly are VLC and MPC-HC (x64). Video editing programs will also often play the video.

Because of this non standard codec, it is not possible to display the normal thumbnails that GPR does.

The process is simple and requires just a few simple stages
1)
Download and install the GPR software on a PC
2) Connect the SD card to the computer
3) Open the GPR program, select the memory chip, and the location to save your recovered data
4) Press <<Recover>>

For the demo, the files saved will not be viewable, but no thumbnails (see above) will be displayed based on the encrypted recovered files. Once a licence is purchased the demo files can be decoded to be playable. The log can also be viewed to see the file status and recording dates
